Equifax Data Security Breach

Identity Fraud has become a major problem in the world today.  In the most recent breach of Equifax Credit Bureau, cyber criminals stole 143 million credit records. It is estimated that one out of every two adults in the U.S. has been affected by this breach.

What Data was Breached?

The information that has been compromised includes social security numbers, names, birth dates, addresses, and some driver’s license numbers. In some cases, credit card numbers were also compromised.  This was NOT a compromise of BankStar Financial and no information was taken from our systems.  We wanted to share this information about the Equifax breach to ensure you are aware of the issue and take the proper precautions to reduce the chances of fraud and identity theft.  If you do see suspicious activity in any of your accounts, please contact a BankStar associate immediately.

What Should I do?

Equifax has set up a special website for you to see if your information was breached and to provide updated information.
